A heavily peated release from Islay icons, Bruichladdich, this Port Charlotte expression has been matured for seven years in a combination of first-fill bourbon, second-fill virgin oak, and second-fill Bordeaux wine casks. Made from 100% Islay barley from a handful of local farming partners, the whisky is a celebration of the island’s agriculture. Bottled at 50% abv, and peated to 40 PPM.
Expect aromas of peat embers and malty digestive biscuit, with hints of honey, exotic fruits and mixed spice. The palate opens with a citrus tang and heather peat smoke flavour, which lead to a sandy minerality, toasted oak, peach, melon and tobacco. On the finish, sweet stoned fruits linger along with a dry barbeque note.
