A limited release of 3,061 bottles, having been finished for 8 months in only 12 virgin oak barrels. Lightly peated and then matured for three years in first fill ex-bourbon barrels, this stellar English single malt was bottled at 51.7% abv by White Peak Distillery in The Peak District.
Wire Works Virgin Oak Finish is named for the previous history of the building used to house the distillery, as their spot in the forests by the river Derwent is a world heritage site. The former Johnson and Nephew Wireworks was a pioneering factory during the industrial revolution. 100% natural colouring and free from chill filtration.
On the nose, caramelised sugar, leather and apple aromas arise. A sweet pepper and fruit flavours on the palate, and a smoky-sweet clove finish.
